$50 million development announced between Riverview Inn and downtown arena in Clarksville

Anyone looking to understand what role private business is to have in the planned Multi-Purpose Event Center downtown need look no further: A $50 million, 4-acre retail development is planned between the MPEC site and the Riverview Inn.

The Clarksville Montgomery County Economic Development Council announced Wednesday — the morning after the County Commission approved the MPEC funding — that a Nashville real estate development company is cooperating with the Hand Family on the mixed-use development.

The project would consist of a renovation of the Riverview Inn into a 145-room "upscale full-service national hotel brand," according to a news release. 

Between the hotel and the arena will be a development of retail and restaurants centered around an outdoor greenspace, and a proposed 700-plus space parking garage to serve the needs of the hotel, retail, event center and downtown Clarksville.

The block for the development is bounded by College Street, First Street, Main Street and Spring Street. It's currently the parking lot for Riverview Inn and a drive-through for F&M Bank.
